Carol-Yes, I figured for promotion purposes the images used to demonstrate the new features would be carefully chosen to show things off to their best advantage.

Re: Photoshop CS5 launch date announced

On Lynda.com, there are some free videos on new PS CS5 functions. One is by Jan Kabili who shows some practical uses for puppet warp in photography -- including moving a tree which is growing in front of a doorway, retouching shape/size of human features as well as correcting distortions caused by lens, angle, or stitching of panoramas.

Using Puppet Warp tool

There is also an introductory video for the puppet warp tool, as well as a few other free videos. I hope to buy a month's subscription when I get my copy of CS5 so that I can make good use of the new features with Lynda.com's help, but their free videos give us a good start at learning.

I pre-ordered yesterday. Estimated availability on the 29th. That's Thursday! I feel like a kid on Christmas Eve.

Some things are just worth the sacrifice! (You can always alternate with peanut butter and jelly)

You folks in the U.K. have to pay extra fees, don't you?

I imagine the prices are higher everywhere outside the U.S.? Here at least, the upgrade price isn't so bad - would hate to have to pay regular price !!!

Macaroni and cheese is high on my list of things to eat anyway, so that helps deal with the cost...

Downloaded and installed yesterday. Haven't done much with it yet but so far I'd say it lives up to the hype. I'm trying to come to grips with the mixer/bristle brushes which may take some time.

WoooHooo!! Did you preorder via Adobe or a reseller? When I look at places to pre-order, it sounds like nothing will be available until May 25th.

Re: Photoshop CS5 launch date announced

CJ - I ordered from Adobe. They gave estimated availability as the 29th; I was prepared for delays but mirabile dictu - got the notice yesterday.

And, btw, it rocks. Content aware fill - though not as bullet-proof as some of the videos out there would have you believe - it pretty nifty. Ditto the content-aware spot healing brush.

I had occasion to use puppet warp, too, in a situation where I would probably have used liquify previously. Way better.
