Opening the brushes toggle makes PS crash

Whenever I open the brushes toggle in CS3, Photoshop gets incredibly slow and won't open it. I only have about 5 or 6 additional sets of brushes installed, so I don't think it's overloading.
What do I do to correct this???

It may be that you have a damaged file on your system, photoshop can not allocate the needed memory, or photoshop can not write to the scratch area. If this is the only time that you see this, I would check your files first. Try opening them in notepad, or run 'chkdsk /f' and reboot. When it asks you if you want to schedule for later, say yes.
