I have ICQ but rarely use it anymore, I just got so tired of all those unwelcome porno messages being sent to me. I use yahoo messenger mostly now, I find it works quite well for me.

Jill I think Doug was refering to the chat programs not this type of forum. It's because it's so hard to chat when you have to type your conversation on the spot. They tend to abbreviate and eliminate all the unnecessary punctuations so they can converse faster. As for the typos and misspells, I think we all tend to do that. Sometimes I have to think of alternatives to what I'm trying to say because I can't spell it for the life of me. I even reread some of my posts and see all the mistakes and wonder how anyone knew what I was talking about. So, were artists here not road schollars. DJ

I use instant messenger when I have my son in law work on my computer remotely. Other than that, I'm kind of bashful as you probably know. Ed

I have ICQ, MSN and Yahoo, but really only use my Yahoo the last 2 years. I have family in Alaska, Tennessee, Texas, N.Carolina and Germany, so it is a great way to get together. I also have 3 colleagues that I talk with all the time, throwing ideas back and forth to each other, having them check my work, I check their's. It's wonderful to be able to have that 'network' since I work from home. Luckily, so do they, in New York, Ohio and Germany even!

Craig... I remember GEnie well. "Those were the good ole days"? I was the Sysop of the Mac Forum there for about three years and I met my Sig Other in the GEnie chat room. Yep.. Lots of good memories.

dee dee, indeed, those were the good old days. i spent WAY too many hours (and money) on GEnie and Compuserve. 300 baud (mostly) and 1200 baud (once in a while for 'high speed' gaming), dial up modems. lol. i was mostly a gamer back then and 'Air Warrior' on GEnie was one of my passions. that was one amazing game for 1200 baud! and if you really want to date my online experience, there was a commodore 64 network around those times as well. i forget the name now, but it was a dedicated C-64 network. cutting edge and i could really get retro on you by talking about mainframe networking in the early 70's craig

here's one i got recently that you all might want to check out. it's called 'iVisit'. it will do instand messages, voice over ip, file sharing/exchange, chat room, and even video conferencing. google 'iVisit'. doesnt seem to have much traffic on it yet. and i've only used it once to check it out, but seems fairly beefy. and, there's a free version, which seems pretty full-featured. do be a little careful with it, however. it seems some folks are using it for nude web-camming craig

I have the paid version of iVisit Video drops after an hour on the free version and is reinstated after 30 minutes of quitting the program. Audio has no limitations. "Nude web-camming" happens in any widely-used video chat program on the planet.
