| Inpaint Tool Hi, I would like to present the new version of Magic Inpainter Tool. You can download it from my website: http://www.pyramidproject.net/MagicInpainter/index.php I am working in this area from several years. This kind of inpainting is unique and is not available in Photoshop or any other photo-editing software. I am open for any questions, comments and suggestions. Thanks! | Re: Inpaint Tool Just one question why does you site have such a poor rating from WOT? I'd like to look at what you do but other users seem to have suggested I'd better stay away? Sj |

| Re: Inpaint Tool Actually, it is available in other software. What your software does has been available in the form of Akvis Retoucher for a few years now. |

| Re: Inpaint Tool Hi, Roob. Sorry, what I ment is that the "algorithm is not available in the other softs". I checked Akvis but I am not using Photoshop so I couldn't test it with some of my test images. If you are using this plugin can you make some tests? (only then you can say that both softs are doing the same http://www.pyramidproject.net/MagicI...ages/brick.bmp (this is one of the most simple inpaint tests). How much time it takes to remove lets say date-stamps from a photo? |

| Re: Inpaint Tool Ok, Since Roob didn't do anything to test the two inpaint programs I asked a friend which uses Photoshop. Here are results from AKVIS and Magic Inpainter: Brick Test Results: http://www.pyramidproject.net/MagicI...ages/brick.jpg http://www.pyramidproject.net/MagicI...ick_akvis3.JPG http://www.pyramidproject.net/MagicI...cInpainter.JPG Date Stamp Removal Test Results: http://www.pyramidproject.net/MagicI.../DateStamp.jpg http://www.pyramidproject.net/MagicI...tamp_Akvis.jpg http://www.pyramidproject.net/MagicI...cInpainter.JPG From what I had seen AKVIS do not work good with straight lines and not always preserves contours. Results from data-stamp (link) removal was awful. Now when there is a competition I hope these guys will work a little harder on the texture preservation Last edited by maginp; 07-12-2010 at 05:03 AM. |

| Re: Inpaint Tool What do you thin about the new version of Akvis Retoucher? It's so ease in use now! I love its new additional tools. I guess Inpainter may be useful but it's hard to use it! I tried but unsuccessfully. |

| Re: Inpaint Tool If you mean Akvis 4 it works awful. I downloaded it from here : http://akvis.com/en/retoucher/downlo...estoration.php I again made some very simple inpaint tests. Maybe I am not doing something right, but the last Akvis version seems to work better then the newer. I am posting the brick inpaint results made with the stand alone application (I used Magic Wand button to select the red rectangle). Here are the results: Brick Test Results: brick corrupted brick cleared with Akvis brick007 clear brick007 corrupted brick007 cleared with Akvis I stopped here because results for even simple texture inpainting are very bad. You can test it further by yourself. A lot more work on the algorithms is needed! By the way, what do you mean that it is "hard" to use MA? I know that it is missing some things, but I losed more time with Akvis than with MA for the same job. Please provide me with some feedback so that I can make changes in the future versions. | Re: Inpaint Tool May be with your bricks, truth to tell I do not try your brick image, it seems a kinda impracticable for me... May be if you work with repeatable texture you should better try clone stamp. One of my favourites in Photoshop btw. In most cases we need to make photos better, and I like the way how Akvis Retoucher does its job. Make quick selection and - voila! I understand that you want say a word for your "child", it's ok... But if you try to remove a large figure you will see the difference between these plugins. We need the good result - yes - and nice process... how to say better... Be closer to your customers. |

| Re: Inpaint Tool Sorry, I do not understand you. How can you remove large figures if you can not even remove the rectangle from a simple texture? I had removed large objects from photos and I know the limitations. See my web site for examples. I am not going to persuade you to use my program, if you like Akvis, fine, please go to Akvis forum and share your satisfaction there. I am just saying that Akvis advertisment is too bombastic comparing to the results. Nice look but poor containment. Remove a person from these photos and we will talk then again. Since textures are unserious for you I had attached below several more test results with Akvis4 for date-stamp removal. Results are not good enough. Just to make sure I understand by "good results" - removal in a natural way, such that the human eye cant catch that there had been something at the spot. | Re: Inpaint Tool The site does have a poor ranking in WOT, but no comments or explanations whatsoever. Also it is unclear how many visitors actually ranked it. The down side of WOT is that for sites with low traffic it takes one upset visitor to bring the rank down. |

| Re: Inpaint Tool Seems very good to me and thanks for making it free. ![]() I think that if you'd do a photoshop plugin out of it along with a more "professional" looking website, it could sell for quite a good price. Don't take my word for it though since I am not a marketing expert. Cheers. |
