| Updating Adobe CS5 using Apple Remote Desktop Has anyone had experience updating Adobe apps remotely using Apple Remote Desktop?
ARD lets you install packages on client computers over the network easily, but Adobe does not provide its updates as packages, thank you very much... Is there a way to create a package out of an AdobePatchInstaller?
I've got 4 university labs of Mac computers imaged and up to date as of the other day then suddenly there's a Bridge update today. I either install it remotely, sit down 85+ times and install it one computer at a time, or ignore the update until the next time I wipe the hard drives.
(In the case of Acrobat, which was also just updated, I simply copied the current version over the network and replaced the old, but then Acrobat has to be launched and the install repaired on each computer individually using an admin password. Bosh.)
BTW, for the initial setup I configure one computer as a master and create a disk image of it. I then restore that image to other computers using Disk Utility. So there are only minor post-imaging updates to deal with afterward. |
