Windows 7

When using XP I can sort by file extention. I can't figure out how to do this in windows 7...

I always sort by file extention, or file type.
Did you use right click menu to change sort parameter?
Looks like you figured it out in 10 minutes flat, by your post times.

and for those that still dont know because nobody mentioned exactly what you do....

in windows explorer pick 'view' in the menu bar, scroll down and hit 'choose details' and pick 'type' or 'file type' and you'll see the extensions listed separate from the other listings. oh, and you also have to be displaying your files and folders as 'details', not icons.

Not that anyone cares, but I sort by date 99% of the time. lol

What's good about what you did is that you did figure it out. You retain things better then when you are shown something. Something analogous to give a man a fish or teach a man to fish.
