Fotosketcher 2.10

David Thoiron, creator of Fotosketcher has released a new version. It has a new Painting 8 (Expressive Brushstrokes). It's works great and it's free. Give it a try.

Re: Fotosketcher 2.10

I installed 2.10 but found out that I also installed Ask.com which I didn't want...and also had a difficult time getting rid of Ask. Is there any way to install 2.10 without Ask? Thanks, Alan

Re: Fotosketcher 2.10

When I installed it there was a screen that came up before the installation began where I was able to deselect the installation of Ask.

Ask Skip mentioned; believe you have to use the custom install option to deselect these undesireables. Many folk, including JAVA installer, are doing this in order to acquire revenue (I'm assuming) by including these nuggets in the respective installers. I tolerate this since I usually know what I'm going to install and know how to bypass the undesireables from installing. Money makes the world go round Al, especially in this economic times.

Exclamation Re: Fotosketcher 2.10

Hi all,

I hope you like the new version of FotoSketcher. Don't hesitate to let me know if you find bugs or have wishes for future releases.
As mentioned, I have partnered with Ask.com to create a cutomized FotoSketcher browser toolbar. This enables me to derive a little revenue and helps me keep FotoSketcher 100% free, which is my wish.
The toolbar is completely optional and can indeed be easily deselected at setup.
An alternative is to download the portable version of FotoSketcher (which is not bundled with the toolbar).
I was reluctant at first to offer a toolbar with FotoSketcher, but Ask.com is a very reputable and professional company and their toolbar does not spy on its users. That was obviously paramount to me (hey, I hate spyware too!).
So if you decide to install the toolbar (which you can easily remove anytime), you will support FotoSketcher but won't risk any breach of privacy.

Best regards,

David

David, was just wondering if you could improve on the draw "interrupt" in that you could start and stop the process for different effects. At times I go past a nice point and would like to be able to have a little more control.

Thanks for a great, and free, program, (and you can carry it with you...super!)

Steve C.

Re: Fotosketcher 2.10

I use to use Jeeves (Ask Jeeves) all the time many many years ago. Very good search Engine too. Glad you found a model that will work for you David. I definitely know how it is right now and you deserve some compensation for all the work you did with this gem of yours.

Re: Fotosketcher 2.10

@ Steve: Thanks for your feedback and yes, that's definitely an idea I'd like to work on (but unfortunately it is not that easy to program, due to my idiosyncratic way of coding...). I'll look into it though, as it is a good idea and other users have also asked for it.
@ Lyle: Thank you for your encouragements :-)
Ask.com is still known as Ask Jeeves in the UK (as a P.G. Wodehouse fan myself, I can only applaud) and I have found that they are both a very professional and trustworthy company. I would not have partnered with them otherwise. The FotoSketcher toolbar is a way for me to generate enough revenue (together with the donations that some generous users have been making) to keep FotoSketcher completely free.
As an aside, I've just come back from a business trip in Paris yesterday and I spent the 2 hour train journey to write a new algorithm, which I think looks promising...
