Question Help Make Signature Look Metallic

Could someone help me with how to make my watermark signature have a metallic silver or gold look. I am going to use this on my photos off on a lower corner. I am hoping this will look professional and elegant.

If this is achievable, how, or what steps would I take to do this?

Thanks...

Re: Help Make Signature Look Metallic

You could experiment with curves see attached very rough and ready try - needs a bit more finesse though!

First you are trying to get the look of either gold or silver both these metals tend to be quite shiny and your sig. is just flat grey.

You need to introduce some shading to represent reflections etc. On my example I just tried a little D&B. I also added Lyer style Bevel/Emboss.

Hopefully the curves should give you a starting point and I am sure you can improve on the look

Hi ylwdog

That's great Tony. I am learning something here.

I just took the example signature, made the background transparent (would work to just make it a Layer Mask as well) and used a variety of Layer Styles that come with Photoshop.

Included L to R and top row to bottom row
- Crumble Metal
- Brushed Metal
- Satin
- Fat Chrome

Once choosing a Layer Style just went in and played with the settings.

Re: Help Make Signature Look Metallic

Just google 'photoshop layer styles' 'metal', 'chrome', etc. and you can find something fun and tweak it to your liking. Remember that you will need to write on a transparent layer because the style will be applied to all pixels on that layer and if you have a background color on the same layer, obviously that is not going to work.

Here are some free metal styles I found when I googled it:
