Plug-In: OnOneSoftware Perfect Photo Suite 6 Bugs!!!

I posted this in another forum but realized that was the wrong place.

I'm having problems running this on windows 7 64 and photoshop CS5.

1. Extreme refresh issues
2. No preview in main window
3. No loupeview above layers
4. Have to run the plugin several times before it even comes up

here's a link to what the screen looks like. I have emailed their support. If I don't hear anything back I guess I'll be requesting a refund.

Week between Christmas and New Years = I'll bet it takes a little longer than usual to reply to support requests.

In my opinion that's not a good reason for bad service, so I hope they come through for you.

hi i was having horrible problems with this new suit from onone on my windows 7 64 bit but i have downloaded the new update and now is much better still buggy but at least is usable now did you check for the new update?

My download *was* the new update (6.0.2)

I heard from someone else that the blank window and blank loupe is a bug in 6.0.2 with certain graphics cards.

are you able to use it as a stand alone? one thing that help was to clean my computer of any residual stuff at the registry I used ashampoo winoptimizer 8 you can download a free demo for 30 days

not able to use it at all in standalone mode. In plug-in mode in cs5 (64) it works about 25% of the time. Sometimes When I execute the Perfect Effects plug-in from CS5 the cursor will spin for 15 seconds and then nothing happens. If I retry one or two times it'll come up but with the anomalous behavior I described earlier.

Wow...Just tried it on my hp notebook running windows 7. On that computer, the plug-in doesn't work at all but the standalone app does.

Surprised that nobody is talking about this in more detail...

I guess they are trying to minimize the fact that is a very Buggy release..they even do not have a lot of info about problems on there site. something that is creating all this instability is that the environment is base on Flash. I just hope they fix it soon.
did you get the upgrade or Suite 6 is your first? if you are new to onone products i guess you can ask them to give you a license code for suite 5 until they fix suite 6

wow that is a lot of power used by a single application. me to I'm very disappointed with release 6 it sucks big time!! but im hopping they will fix it .

While this is happening, is your computer not frozen. IOW, could you launch another application that such as a picture file manager. Something that has to do with displaying graphics. See if this sends a wakeup call to your card.

I've seen problems similar to yours, and launching another graphic app sometimes fixes it. Not that you should have to do this. The program should work. It's just a method of seeing what's what.

It has 1% of the dual-core's time slice to do other things. I could not get another window to come up. NOTE - This is a CPU runaway process, not a graphics card hang. In a graphics card hang, the CPU is available because it's simply in a thread wait state and other threads are able to consume 100% of the CPU.

Eventually after about 15 minutes I had to hard reset it.

I'm on a 21" iMac now (a few years old, 4 gigs RAM) and ran Suite 6.0.2 in PS CS5 and here's what I saw (forum thread included in the screenshot as proof of when I did this). I also had several other apps open as a stress test (Safari, Toast 11, SoundStudio, Bridge, Word, TextEdit) and had no problems at all.

I understand on PCs there are a lot more hardware variables, as onOne suggested when they asked about your video card (and you didn't tell us how much RAM you have, but I assume it's a decent amount).

onOne is not new at developing plug-ins (their experience goes back a decade, to Extensis), so make sure your hardware is in order and you've tested on additional systems before blaming them too much.

they agreed to give me a refund. I will purchase it again when they get a 6.03 version and fix the bugs with it. I do like the functionality and the results and it's a bargain in price compared to some of the other offerings.

OnOne gave me a refund right at one month into my 6.0 purchase. I don't know their rules, but I thought that was nice of them. It probably didn't hurt that I was a registered 5.5 user.

I've had problems too with Windows 7 64-bit / Photoshop CS5.

I downloaded the Perfect Resize trial this week. It worked fine the first time I tried it but every time afterward I got a show-stopper display bug. The main image area turned red (as in R=255 G=0 B=0 red). In the lower left corner of the image was a spurious small square area where I could see a fraction of the image area taken from the upper part of the image.

However, in the Perfect Resize dialog I could see the entire image just fine. But after the first time I couldn't get its Crop and Resize functionality to crop, it only resized.

After Applying the Perfect Resize, back in my image my crop tool could not make visible marks although the Crop functionality still worked. But the crop was always offset from the area I actually selected.

I could (almost) see what I was doing because my layer thumbnails were still visible. When I did File > Print the print dialog showed the cropped image.

My saving grace in all this was that I also downloaded Alien Skin Blowup and it actually did a sharper enlargement for me than Perfect Resize did, so Blowup is the product I'm buying and from the results would have bought anyway.

I'm sorry that you too had problems with an OnOne product, but I did enjoy your description of the small square...spurious...good word!
