Re: Best for Removing Grain

Here it is. Even at this size I had to cut it to 60% quality to get down to the file size needed. Hey there's a little side question. Does anyone know the exact dimensions that RP will show?

Re: Best for Removing Grain

Here are a couple of examples using Topaz DeNoise and Imagenomic Noiseware, with unedited presets. Your original seems to need color correction but I did not do that.

Re: Best for Removing Grain

The main trick is keeping some detail in the hair, but of course some layer erasing with a duplicate of the original below it can help there.

Re: Best for Removing Grain

Brought your image into Camera Raw and played a little with standard Noise and Sharpen plus masking. I think with a little finesse it could be improved on if you cannot find a better plug in - I like Noiseware

Re: Best for Removing Grain

Thanks everyone! Looking at the examples it seems that topaz has done the best job of reducing the grain but leaving the ear untouched. Does anyone have Kodak DIGITAL GEM? Is it worth looking at?

That's some seriously ancient software! My copy is from 2007. Stick with the still-being-developed options.

Ya, I remember something about a change with Kodak but I couldn't remember if it was discontinued or changed hands.

Re: Best for Removing Grain

Seems Kodak bought the ICE technology from Applied Science Fiction back in 2003. And now Kodak is bankrupt. Avoid ;-).
