Use of Photoshop CC without uninstalling CS6

I would like to put a question which has received (from Adobe italian authorized resellers) contrasting answers. At least in Italy, it is practically impossible to contact physical persons of Adobe.
I behave a Windows based PC with these features:
Processore Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-3450 CPU @ 3.1 GHz, RAM 8 GB,
Windows 7 64 bit, Video Card: AMD Radeon HD 7800 Series 2GB memory (dedicated), 2 Hard disks: one with OS 1TB and one for photos storage 1.5 TB.
The problem is: I would like to acquire and install Photoshop CC but I am not sure at the moment to continue the payment after a year because the price is now convenient but it could increase substantially. Therefore I would like to maintain Photoshop CS6 (with which I work at the moment) “sleeping”, that is withou uninstalling it, but ready to work again. In your opinion is it possible to work with Photoshop CC in these conditions, or is it impossible, or do you think that I must improve my PC?
Thank you very much for your attention.

Adobe has always created PS so that each installation is completely separate. You can have all 14 version of PS installed on your on your PC at the same time. You can only run one version at a time. All of the others just take up disk space. CS6 takes about 2GB of storage which is a tiny fraction of your 1TB drive.
Yes, you definitely want to keep CS6 installed even while using CC because some day you may not be able to maintain your CC subscription. Having CS6 installed means you won't need to rely on Adobe's Activation Server being online if you needed to reinstall it in case you need to terminate your subscription.

Interesting - are you sure? On OS X you can run PS CS5, CS6, CC, CC2014 all at the same time if you wanted.

--shift studio.

Thank you. In any case I am sufficiently satisfied in running a version at a time: it falls surely in my possibilities.

Haven't tried it on a Mac but on a PC if you are running one version and try to start up 2nd version Windows ignores the request to start the 2nd version and just continues to run the 1st opened. At least that's the way it was last times I tried it under Win& and XP.

On Mac, you can run two versions at the same time but it’s not a very good idea (memory hog). Not sure why anyone would want the two running at the same time anyway, but it is possible.

What is also doable is running ACR from Bridge and PS at the same time (again, not sure why that would be useful).

Re: Use of Photoshop CC without uninstalling CS6

Really, apart from the fact that I use Photoshop strictly for personal aims and therefore surely I do not feel the need of running two or more versions of Photoshop, my fear was based 1) on the eventuality of some conflict 2) on the fact that if both versions are ready to use in any moment, they reserve resources of the computer at the Windows starting. This second doubt originated my question if it was necessary to strengthen the computer.
Than you again
