| | Thanks, Don -- I've been preparing to move up to Version 7, and was wondering when V8 was slated to appear- didn't want to get V7 three weeks before the new version was announced. |

I still wish they'd create a natural media brush engine and the ability to paint onto textured paper ala Painter but I guess they are going after where the big market is... |

| | Yes, I'm also very interested in that, I was wondering if they'd do something like that eventually. Even though features like that are nice and usefull, it's not enough to me to justify the upgrade, I'm thinking I'll wait for Photoshop 9 and just keep on duping layers for filters, unless they put some things in 8 that I really desperately want to have.

| | | I have yet to check out the article, but I have my big big of salt handy. <g>
Although internal play probably never stops - I would presume that it is at least 6 months to a year before anything will surface.
There is a fairly regular 18 month cycle for release, which I do not think is upon us yet.

- David | Rather than upgrade, you could get Painter 7's superhero bundle which includes the graphire 2 tablet and a spiderman DVD for $149!!!

| | hey, sounds like a good deal, but I've blown all my spending money for now, it went to a new clear side panel (with LED fan) for my computer, a sattelite TV system, and a new video card (well I haven't actually got it yet, all the stores I went to today were out of the Radeon 9000 pro 128mb)

| | I may wait until PS 9 comes before I upgrade. As a rule (my rule anyway) I upgrade very other version.

Tony | One thing that I've seen is that Photoshop has gradually shifted it's focus from "fine-artists" to "graphics-professionals". That's neither good nor bad but I think it's something to keep in mind regarding the features they are adding to new versions... |
