Blending Modes

I know I've seen it somewhere, maybe even here. But I'm trying to find a list of what the layer blending modes do and how they react to other layers. Preferably in simple short sentences so I can understand.

E.B. if you have the Photoshop 6 Wow Book,there is a discription of all of them on page 78.
