Very handy! Thanks for sharing. I've been wondering how to do something like that. It's sure a lot faster than renaming each one individually.

if you want a really powerful rename tool, download Total Commander from http://www.ghisler.com - it supports probably all you can ever need - leaving a part of the name (eg. if the filename contains number, you can "cut out" this number and use it in the new name), regular expressions, adding a counter, date/time, find-replace, and more... also it enables you to change name and extension separately

IMO it's the best file manager available for windows... for those who don't know it, it also contains ftp client, support for archives - creating, editing, etc., and more... and w/ the new tabbed interface, you can have open as many directories as necessary, and you don't sink in the windows as in the explorer...

Batch Convert ??

Appreciate your suggestions for renaming PC files. Can any one suggest a program or procedure for batch converting photo images to .psd. My question stems from having some textures in jpg which I would like to convert for Photoshop usage. Thank you for your consideration.

I have been using BreezeBrowser for all of my re-naming chores. It permits many re-naming options utilizing replaceable parameters from the EXIF data (date, time, image #, and more). For cataloging files, I have found it one of the easiest to use. It has many other features that you will fing useful. Also their Downloader is a great tool. Check them out at:

I have no connection to Breeze other than using their product.
