Print screen in WindowsXP

I don't know if this is hardware or software or carbonware, but it's driving me nutz!

I'm in PhotoShop Elements 2 on WindowsXP, do File>Save for Web, hit the print screen button on the keyboard of my laptop and I can capture that screen in all it's glory so I can put it in my PowerPoint presentation about image sizes. This works IF I haven't made any changes to the settings on the screen.

As soon as I make any changes to the settings, I can't capture the screen using print screen.

I can find another way to illustrate my point, but can anyone tell me why this is happening??

Thanks, Margaret

Could be a focus thing. After making some changes to the settings, try putting the focus someplace else, then hitting Print Screen.

If I'm just doing a few caps, I'll just doctor in Photoshop to get what I want if something goes wrong.
If I'm doing a bunch of caps, I use MWSnap.

Do you get anything if you use ALT + Print Screen (This should give the active window only).

Nope - tried Alt + Print Screen - nothing, tried moving the mouse to focus elsewhere, nothing.

Thanks for the heads up about MWSnap, will give that a look!

This could just be an anomoly with this particular computer, wouldn't surprise me at all.
