Re: Flame fractals

Every so often I play around with these and have a ball manipulating them just to see what they can do. Here is one I did recently. I apologize ahead of time for the compression.

Re: Flame fractals

Ahh, I see you have discovered fractals. Aren't they fun to play with? Quite addicting as well. I've posted a link to some very nice fractal work from another digital art forum some here are acquainted with. It became quite a fad; and the people there exhibited a lot of creativity. I hope you post here generates some fun by others.

Enjoy all,

Janet

Re: Flame fractals

How do you make an image with the software without the noise effect it seems to add when I use it?
Thanks

I had been looking for this answer myself and had been fiddling with settings etc and getting sidetracked
so I have been hunting for some tuts and here are a few i found the first one has some advice on reducing noise

http://poppingweasels.deviantart.com...orial-26380310

http://fractal-impact.deviantart.com...ophys-56866339

i have only had the time to quickly read through these but will try them out soon

Re: Flame fractals

Did you miss the tutorial on the download site?

Fran's Apophysis Tutorial

Where she states: "Tip
If the flame in the main viewing pane is quite "grainy" click on the options button and scroll down to "options" and click. Under the "Display" tab go to "Quality" (previously called "Sample Density".) If the number is too low eg. 5 this will result in quite a grainy image. I usually work with my Quality at 35 or a little higher. This gives a reasonable view of a flame. Just bare in mind, the higher the Quality the better the preview but a much longer rendering time."

Regarding the rendering time... toward the end of the tutorial she states, "I find my flames render very nicely using a sample density of between 400 and 600. Others use a sample density of 2000. The higher the setting the better the definition of the flame.
Click the "Render" button. Depending on the size of the image you may want to do something else while you wait."

OO-oo! Thanks Palms! Those are stunning.

I have my Google Reader set-up so that when this guy uploads a new work of art I'm notified. I 'heart' fractals.

Talking Re: Flame fractals

I'm finding fractals as addicting as oh say, meth-amphetamine or Facebook
You can download Ultra Fractal as a demo for free.

I think fractals are very pretty turned into kaleidoscopes. Medhi has a free PS plugin for that.

You've been warned though.

Re: Flame fractals

Jut love this program - not being very inspired myself, it's a great way to invent images.

The first is my favourite, and I use it as my Desktop.
