Fractal Art Contest 2007 Winners

One of the judges was Benoit Mandelbrot!

They're beautiful, mostly. But something bothers me about fractal images, and I can't quite put my finger on what. They're simultaneously fascinating and empty.

Re: Fractal Art Contest 2007 Winners

I'm intrigued and may have to try my hand at this. Some would male lovely abstract paintings; especially if you could add the texture and depth of paint. I agree that they do seem a little empty; perhaps due to the generated element (too forced).

Some other nice examples:

The Inn has been having a Fractal Art binge for several months now. Thought I would share the thread with you all here too. Very cool stuff (may take an hour to read through all the responses; lol).

I've been told that the famous artist Jackson Pollock's work is loosely based on fractals. I don't know how true that is but can see easily how it would work.
