3d Peel mini car model

This is a little (pun intended) project that I've been working on off and on for a few months. I saw this cute 'lil car, the Peel P50 somewhere on the web, and I thought it would be a great modeling and texturing project. The asymmetry of the car was a nice challenge. I used Silo 2 for the model; it's a very intuitive sub-d modeler, and I enjoy the speed and control of the program- but there's no rendering in Silo. I imported the car into Maya to set up the lights and overall scene; I rendered a few occlusion passes to see how the details were coming along; the texturing is the next step.

Re: 3d Peel mini car model

That's one funny (in a good way) looking car. It looks like someone cut off the front of a pick-up truck and turned into a car. It looks good so far. Are you using Mental Ray or Maya native renderer?

Re: 3d Peel mini car model

Yeah, it really is a funny-looking car.My side view for modelling is a crop of a hilarious pic of a tiny truck hauling one of these Peels. Due to the back single wheel under the car, it also looks like it's floating. The occlusion passes in the last post were done using Mental Ray, but I hadn't planned on using MR for the diffuse passes. I don't have much xp with using MR...
