Daz3D with Photoshop

I've been using Daz Studio with Photoshop for a few years. Attached are two of my more successful projects. Let me know what you think!

I really like the bird. The fairy one needs a bit of work with the shadows. You've got a very strong shadow under her face, which indicates strong sunlight, but no shadow on the rock. Very creative though. Been thinking about trying Daz, but money is always tight, every for little things like models.

Chuck:

Thanks for the comments. I will review the shadows on the fairy. At the time, I put a rather weak shadow on the rock, thinking that the ambient light from the sky and bright rock would soften it. The shadow is stronger closer to her body.

I would recommend trying Daz. It was free and came with Victoria (the model I used) along with the fairy dress, wings, and hair (all in low-res). I purchased the high-res versions.

I took a look at your website. Your images are very creative...sort of Salvadore Dali-like. Saw the pic of you behind the copy camera with the vacuum back. Oh, the memories! I was doing that back in the 80s along with studio photography with a 4x5 view camera, wet processing, etc. That's where I learned the basics.

Re: Daz3D with Photoshop

I saw a demo of DAZ at photoshop world a few years ago and was impressed. It is free, but then the models start to cost money, which is a bit tight right now. Thanks for looking at my site. Yes, I spent a lot of time behind that copy camera too, but it's gone now - another relic of the past. The only 3D image that I've done so far was the one of the Beard Opera house. I drew that in a CAD program then brought it into PS to render it, as I wanted to try and make a more realistic image than the software could produce.

You've got some great stuff on you site too.

Caligari is giving away trueSpace 7.6 (as in FREE):

It looks impressive but I have to see what models are available and how easy it is to use.

You say you drew the your opera house in a CAD program and brought it into PS to render. I've never heard of 'rendering' in PS. Please explain.

Thanks.

I made a hidden line drawing in a CAD program as a reference, then created all the textures, bg, tools, houses, trees, etc, just using PS to draw them.
