Creative Portraits: Ariana

Here's a doll for you to play with. She is a gorgeous 8-mth old, belonging to a very close friend.
I'm sending this in with her mother's consent.

Hi Judy....

In between painter 9 and the brushes from trimoon cd in photoshop i came up with this, if it wasnt 2am here i would do it again as i am not too happy with it, but if you want the 300 dpi let me know this one is 72.

Elle

Thank your friend for allowing us to draw or paint her she is beautiful!!! what a joy!

Ariana in Pink

She's gorgeous Judy and thanks for the photo.

Because I couldn't see any hairline as it blended into the bg too much, I used PSP8.1 Auto Contrast to lighten. Then Neat Image/Reduce Noise. Resized the image to 140% 72 dpi.

Duped bottom layer and filled the bottom layer with pink.
Eraser/Dry Brush all over bg. Merged visible.
Paintbrush/Dry Brush/White over bg, plus a darker shade of pink.
Smudged all of the bg.
Made a rectangular feathered selection and placed on another
pink background. Some more edge smudging.
Duped bottom layer.
L2 - Impressionist/Watercolour/Soft Daubs on fine paper/ Mode 50%
Duped L2 - Multiply Mode at 30%
Merged all.

P.S. With a second look, it looks like I have her wrapped up in Candy Floss???

Neve, Christine, C.J. lovely renditions! Thank you.
Neve, yep candy floss alright! Christine, very nice watercolor effect. C.j. the eyes they do look pretty. Is that a hat or bonnet??
Here's my creation. I Went thoroughly overboard, i think.
Impossible to recall the steps, though there's a bit of vp wc and airbrush in it, also initially i did a bit of cloning in painter, and added some render clouds and wc layers in ps7. There was a final luminosity blend.

Beautiful Baby!!

I set blending mode to multiply, and somehow played with that Art History Brush. I'm not crazy about the results on this one, but I shall play some more and continue to learn.

What a Happy kid!

I wanted to capture those sparkling eyes.

desaturated
duplicated
inverted and changed to colour dodge
Gaussian blur
removed unwanted distractions like the background
new layers with some colour set to overlay

Fizzgiz - you did very well with the a-h brush. Getting in that much detail is not easy.
Karyn - Ariana's eyes shine like jewels! Very good work!
Btw - welcome to RTP!

Fun baby

As requested, here's one from one of the guys.

Much messing around with filters in Elements2 to cleanup & simplify the image. Took the result into Painter & autocloned using the Impressionist cloner brush on a new layer. Applied 3D Brushstroke surface texture on the new layer. Back to Elements. Softlight mode for the autoclone layer. Duplicate, LightingEffects, Decolor, Highpass. Softlight mode with some masking to selectively enhance the texture. Added a touch of canvas texture to top it off.
