I can just imagine you launching into "creative mode" on this one. Simply awesome results, Amy. Jaw dropping.

More experimenting with Impressionist settings + I tried the Painter IX Artist's Oils on this one for a little stroke depth.

Gosh, I love messing with this image!

The Look

Well! she's definitely got the LOOK!

NancyJ your first is just fantastic! The sepia look is really lovely and I don't think I would change it... but I had a thought (always experimenting!) how about putting this version as a layer over the original and setting the layer to luminosity? You would then have a color version!

Amy! What a marvelous piece!

I tried for a light muted effect
layer 1 -difference clouds, inverted and blue toned gradient map
layer 2 -green toned high key lineart set to multiply
layer 3 -original lightened with curves set to soft light
flattened image
duplicated background and ran Impressionist on each with soft charcoal
effects to smooth and add some texture. set the top layer to 50% opacity.
added more texture

Sure wish there was a PC version of this program... I've seen some pretty neat things created with it, including this interpretation.

Sherry:

That's a bold approach you took. I admire artists who push the envelope of creativity.

Thanks, Danny. I THINK they're working on a pc version. It's expensive. I'm using the demo. Can't save, have to make screen shots.

I was in your neck of the woods in mid July. LOVED IT. My brother lives in Seattle. Pics below when you have time.

Nancy, it works really nicely! still like the sepia best though. I went back and read through the retouching tutorial, I know I will find this tut very helpful!

Hey Danny, it's great to see the results you are getting with Painter!

My attemt

This was such a great image to start with. I used Studio Artist to do the painting and moved it to PScs to texture it.
