Creative Portraits: College Guy (MIT)

Clean cut MIT student, not too hunky, has a part-time job. You'd be OK if your collage-age daughter was dating him, wouldn't you?

MIT = Massachusetts Institute of Technology, a prestigious U.S. university.

For better results, don't forget to get rid of that ugly flash shadow.

Nice work Palms.

Legacy: I have not tried the chalk. I like the look of it and I am going to give it a try. Thanks.

Looks like the kind of guy that Norman Rockwell would have liked to paint, or let his daughter date.

The impressionist plug-in is available at Trimoon.com under downloads. The main style used was drjoil24. Thanks for your comment.

M.I.T. eh?

Don't know as how I'd go having too many people over to the house for intellectual discussions.

For style #djroil24 (crafted by yours truly), see post 4 in this thread:
http://www.retouchpro.com/forums/photo-art-resources/8328-impressionist-plugin-custom-styles-member-posted.html

By itself it won't yield Alan's results, but it will provide a basis for getting started.

This was done using by combining effects rendered by Photoshop Dry Brush, the Impressionist plugin (#djroil24) and applying some strokes via Acrylic > Captured Bristle, Blender > Grainy Blender, Cloner > Soft Cloner and Impasto > Smeary Bristle brushes in Painter IX.

Is this similar to your technique on "Autumn Girl"? I really like it, whether it's the same or not.

I think this guy's cute, so your son must be cute also!

Illustrated look.

Been playing around with illustrations a lot the last few days. Not a Norman, but I hope you all like it anyway.

Re: Creative Portraits: College Guy (MIT)

Peter,

After your winning sketch it's very hard to keep the proportions the same.
There's always a temptation to make the smile just a bit bigger.
