Re: Creative Portraits: Asian Girl

Thanks for resurrecting her, Joe. I don't think she's sad, either. I'm going with pensive.

I used the AHB this time, following Vitaly's great tute, mostly.

Yeppers, me to JOE >> Thanks for resurrecting this thread!

I think it is neat to be able to go back a few years and see the submissions from our members..

Wouldn't it be KEWL if others followed dkcoats example and submitted a sort of Then and Now version of this pretty lady (BTW... DC, Beautiful work on both of those! )

Mine also very loosely follows "Piker's watercolor emulation" , followed by a little blend of Palms' "Fake Smudge Action" to smooth thing out a bit

Re: Creative Portraits: Asian Girl

Danny, I really liked that one. Good colors.

Mine isn't really a portrait, but more of a "derivative." (And yeah, I know I'm weird.)

Amy - No . . . I don't think you're weird, in fact I like it, very nice color composition. Your style certainly lends to the imagination. This is one of those styles that makes one interpret. It would also make a good album or book cover.

Re: Creative Portraits: Asian Girl

Thank you! This is what I love to do. I love taking a photo and turning it into something entirely different. For me photos are just fodder. Using the ugliest worthless photos I've come up with results that I actually sell as artwork.

To me if it looks anything like the original photo, I've failed.

Amy

You know. . .I've been here at retouch for sometime and I don't know how I managed to overlook this image. Although I appreciate everyone's interpretation (loved Amy's abstract ), I thought I'd take a stab.

Re: Creative Portraits: Asian Girl

Saw what danny was doing and I had to give it a try. Its fun, I will have to work this style in some time. I used only the smudge tool and tried to follow the flow of the natural image.

Re: Creative Portraits: Asian Girl

I did mine, then went back and looked at all the others. Glad I didn't look first or I wouldn't have done one. Terrific! I do need more practice on portraits.
