Isn't this a fantasticly beautiful portrait to work on? I had to try again, but I don't think I can beat what everyone else has done.

Fluffbutt...thanks for your comments on my watercolor styles. I am finding these seem to work best when used in pairs, like one and four, or two and three. Again, it would be helpful to me to know how others are using them.

Cathy... Nice Sutdio Artist rendering. I never could get a handle on that program.

PhotoShop CS2

1. Duplicated the file and ran a pencil sketch action on the duplicate. Adjusted levels on this and set the Color Mode to RGB.

2. Drag and drop the sketch into the original. Set the sketch layer to blend mode of luminosity. Tinkered with the blending options in Layer Styles. I set the underlying Layer sliders to 0/134 and 89/255. (Way beyond the norm because the white slider ended up to the left of the black slider-using ALT/OPTION to split the sliders.)

3. Added A color fill layer Set to Normal Blend Mode. (HSB set to 44-34-85 for a gray green) and in the mask painted the leaves back in with a dry brush.

4 Added a Curves AL and lowered the 3/4 tones

5. Merged the visible layers onto a new layer and added texture.

6. Increased the canvas size and added the border and signature.

Lightly brushed oil.

First I have to say that I need to do a better job at exploring all the forums; I had no idea this one even existed. This one was quite easy. I used KentC's Cezanne preset (Impressionist of course) and then added some noise and ran PS's angled brush stroke. I then ported the whole thing into GIMP for bumpmapping (I like GIMP's filter for this better then PS). Afterwards, I did some color/contrast adjustments using DCSpecial's 1969 filter on a duplicate layer set to Value (GIMP again). Hope you all like it.

Swampy, lkroll, LQQKER -- yum!!!

Swampy --interesting look and technique -- don't think I've seen that before. Really like it!

lkroll -- impressionist, of course! Your adjustments enhance her. So soft...

LQQKER -- her eyes! Lovely!

Yep, CJ pretty much said it all, Swampy, Ikroll and LQQKER, and I'll add Amy into the mix, all of them beautiful. When things settle down after Christmas, I want to take a bunch of these versions and use them as tutorials, really a lot of variety going on here.
