With so many wonderful interpretations in this thread, it's getting difficult to post something new!

I have always marvelled at how comic-book artists can draw scenes just in black and white. (Marvel? Comics? - sorry about that).
I've been trying to recreate the look in PS, basically my process is...
1) Make a good greyscale;
2) Turn that into a "representative" black and white image;
3) Find the outlines of the greyscale image and use this as a mask to invert these outlines in the black and white image.
Well here's how it came out (with some of the original colour put back in).

Cathrine.. Yes... some of the most interesting interpretations and renderings of a single subject that I've seen around here. It's such a lovely and very workable file.

Marvelous, Ro. Wonderful contrasts. It would make a great poster.

Like Swampy said, if you start with a good image then very good things will happen. Thanks cat!

Just had to have another go!
I sharpened the leaves and did a "glamour" type retouch on the face (and changed the wierd eye lashes).....

BTW: When I was reading the thread, I thought twinkissed's (post #37) rendition looked familiar - blue face, red lips. Must be NancyJ's sister!
BTW (II): NancyJ, that watercolour sketch came out beautifully (no, really )

I had a go at this fascinating foto as well. I think I'm liking the rut I dug for myself because it is getting hard to come up with new techniques, this one included.

I'm glad you folks are enjoying her.

ByRo, your comic book version really does have that off-set, colored-in look. That style's a keeper. And in your second version, the rough background works well w/ her super soft skin.

Janet, that's a rut? Well, help me step into your rut and tell us how you did it, please. Very cool.

Hey, Craig. Your overlay works really well here.

Thanks ByRo, btw, those lashes - did you use a brush or did you paint them yourself?

NancyJ, a few days ago I did a search for eyelashes and rounded up a little collection.
I'm not sure, but I think that the ones I used here were from Marilyn Sholin's site (crex eyelashes - valeu Cláudio) - thanks to a tip off from Xaran - here.
