Creative Portraits: Same girl pencil sketch

okay, i really love this photo of my friend's daughter so much that i wanted to take a stab at a pencil sketch -- it's kind of a pencil/smudge look, i guess -- there's currently another thread going on that inspired me -- this is my first attempt at something like this -- am i heading in the right direction? i know, her ear needs work - lol.

feel free to have a go at her -- i'd love to see what others could do with her.

christine, i like the sketch and really love the painting -- i am going to attempt a painting one of these days -- can i ask what you used to get the perfect canvas texture background -- i have a couple of filters that just don't look that great.

The canvas is Artist Canvas - one of the Painter paper textures.

I realize this isn't a pencil sketch so forgive me for going in a different direction.

cobra1972 nice pencil sketch.

lQQker also nice interpretation -- gave her a sinister, dark look; i like it.

Beautiful girl. I certainly hope she is modeling.

Here are two interpretations. One color and one greyscale. I prefer the color one, but you asked for a sketch. So here are both.

steve, a pencil sketch is not crucial, i just wanted to see other interpretations of her - and i really like all three of yours, particularly the last one. i'm actually working on a painting version that i will post as soon as it's finished.

You're very kind ...and I thank you.

An image like this is most pleasant to work with.

Do you know if she has done modeling?

Steve

steve, unfortunately, she's not a model yet, but i agree, she should be. she's only 12, so she's got time.

here's my paint/smudge attempt; it's my first time trying this. i'm fairly happy with the result, although i definitely need practice.

Combination of ...

Sharp Control, Impressionist with CherylH's preset, and some cloning.

Christine;

Your 'painting' is really great..

If she looks like that at 12 - - she could have a career in modeling

I'm actually going to stick my neck out and say I hope she doesn't go into modeling, that she doesn't get into a system that places emphasis on false values, and that she has a chance to grow straight, strong, and true. Nevertheless, she is beautiful. I hope her inner beauty will be valued as well.

finally a little time to play this started out as my gaussian blur/darken process and evolved into some oddball steps, including one script from psp 10.

craig, glad to hear that you have time to play again -- i've been reading your thread on your computer nightmare and empathize with you.

i really like what you've done with julia -- no filter forge?

Wink

Here my go at it, this was done in PSP X.
This is a little more that a sketch, this is my blending stick sketch with color.

When I was doing this I didn't bother to fix the background, I left it the way it was......

A Wacom tablet is required. Even better: A Wacom Cintiq21.

Such a beautiful pic of a beautiful girl, this is only the second smudge I've done on a face, I hope you like my rendition.
My trouble when I'm smudging is, I never know when to stop!
