Creative Portraits: Beauty from India

Well I hope you'll like this one as much as I did.

First one lots of smoothing. a small adjust with Lucis (a new toy I got).
Second carried on with Impressionist, then duped changed mode to overlay, ran Bas Relief filter. changed opacity down to about 50% as was a little harsh. this was still too much so added a layer mask and added render difference clouds to soften the effect a little.

Looking forward to some real crackers here, enjoy.

Peter

danny,

along with lqqker, i concur. and i can see why you didnt post it on RP directly. all those great paint strokes would have been lost or subdued.

Ditto from me Danny. Just how did you get all that detail into 97.76 kB.

Palms I think your right it is a hanky, I was too interested in the rest to even notice that one. (DOH)

Re: Creative Portraits - Indian Beauty

Pixel Trash set to Value; copied the original on Top layer and set it to Saturation (adjusted Opacity to taste). Opened it up in PS and set to @Wetter2 (Paint Engine) and added canvas (well I also used gamut replacement to enhance the color/sat of the piece).

Here's the full version.

Nothing special... just ran it through Photoshop's File > Save for Web dialog and specified 99Kb in the Optimize > To File Size dialog.

The image is in fact posted at RP in the "Snap Art" thread here.

Thanks to each of you for the kind words on my interpretation. I was pleasantly surprised at what I thought was a pretty decent looking oil painting effect based on Snap Art's "pastel" filter. LOL

Re: Creative Portraits - Indian Beauty

This is a gorgeous photo. Do we get to credit the photographer and tell him/her how good it is?

I had fun experimenting with a boatload of techniques. I hope ya'll like the result as much as I've enjoy the results of others.

Janet, I'm pretty certain that this is from the "old" El Dorado site.

Peter - do you have a new link, or did you have this image stashed away?

Ro you are exactly right. I downloaded quite a few before it disappeared. I only wish I had taken more.

Beautiful picture! Thanks for posting it.
I did this one with a faint layer of Lucisart, some smudging and color shifts.

Lightly accent the subject, too much salt will ruin the soup...

Re: Creative Portraits: Beauty from India

Tried in Photoshop CS2 and just a little touch with Nik software Viveza.

Adding noise or dust and scratches filter in PS might have made it look like an art but didnt try it .Would it work?

Inspired by the paintings of Raja Ravivarma..

Re: Creative Portraits: Beauty from India

Hi Rugan,

Nicely done..my compliments

I think it will work.. this photo can look like art with some of the filters you mentioned..
and with some other filters like splatter

But only when you use them in a minimal way.. The filters in PS used like 100% in mode normal, are simply too much..

A tip, use one filter pro layer.. and if it the filter works too strong, as it usallly does, directly use the command fade till you get a better, softer result.

Toggle a bit with the layers and modes to get the best result.

Is one of the filter treatments still too strong.. reduce the opacity of that layer.

This is my advice to get some good Art like results

Regards

Maya
