Creative Portraits: Red Headed Beauty

See what you can do with the picture of this young lady.

For my version I used Photoshop:
Curves;
Buzz Pro;
Smudged with Linda's Brush and Sarsa's Hair Brushes using lighten, darken and normal modes;
Lots of Dodging and Burning with 1 to 4 pixel brushes;
Trimoon's Cotten Canvas applied selectively with layer mask;
Curves again;
Nik Sharpener Pro.

Have fun using your creativity.

Ziaphra, yours is a stunning interpretation. With the face lighting you created it really becomes the dominate element since the red hair no longer competes for the eyes attention.

I thought this girl reminded me a lot of Ariel from the Little Mermaid... so I thought I'd see what I could do to make her look that way. I considered adding more elements to make her more mermaidish, but I only had like 30 minutes to work on it and didn't want to get too carried away. The first image is the background change and the second is a more painterly version.

Yes Palms it was the water paper filter on a 50%grey b/ground, overlaid with a slight emboss, then used one of the colour channels as a mask to soften the effect. Glad U liked it.

I had no idea what I was doing, Craig. I just ran a soft pencil in auto mode in Painter. It was when I brought it back to PS and started playing with blending modes that this effect popped up. I can't put my finger on it, but I kinda liked the effect too.

for a free trial download. It is a bit pricey but when you see what it can do you may want to take the plunge. IMHO, no semi-serious retoucher should be without it. It is the slickest plug-in I have ever seen. For me it took my work to a whole new level that I never thought possible.
