Smile What happen to microsofts art program?

A wile back i heard in some Microsoft forums that they are making a program that lets you paint with vectors. So you can have a completely digital painting that look like paint, but also its all vectors. so you can enlarge the image with out loosing detail. Does any one know what happen with that project?

I believe you are referring to the program that is now called "Expression" in its various (WebBuilding, vector base etc,) forms. In earlier stages ( 2 years +) it was available for free. It is now priced in the more like Adobe CSX. I hope this helps.

Re: What happen to microsofts art program?

I believe you are right Ted. I beta tested the former named project Microsoft Acrylic. When I did a search, it brought me to the Expression website. Don't know anything about it. Heads already nearly full with GIMP and Photoshop, (and an occasional use of Inkscape), so I doubt I would use it anyway, unless it brings a feature that's outstandingly fantastic. Linking the website below for you Matt.

Expression is Microsoft's rendition/competition for Adobe Flash.

Expression 3 is still available on Microsoft website and it is a fantastic program. It is free, fast, stable, fully functional, never expires, etc... Grab it before it is not there anymore.

Re: What happen to microsofts art program?

See a screenshot and examples from the original Expression here. I made the flowers for a client myself with little previous experience with the app.

It seems what MS is doing is making their own confusing (too many products) "Creative Suite" using purchased technology. My experience with earlier versions of their revamped Expression were frustrating--the original was much better.

They seemed to have buried the link for the free version; I don't see it with a quick look.

Thanks secretagents! Did you see a Mac link too?

I wasn't too worried either way 'cause I already have it... But I should add both direct links to my web page.

I haven't got a clue about the direct link for the MAC version, sorry, but it certainly does exist.

Re: What happen to microsofts art program?

There aren't many it seems. Here are those I found on google :

http://www.studioe3.com/lessons/index.asp

http://creativemac.digitalmedianet.c...e.jsp?id=26800

The included pdf manual is excellent, it's worth a read if you have not done so.
