Swampy i had to laugh when i saw your comment above (about stubble) i looked at the post earlier when my 6 year old granddaughter was here she took a look and went he's ugly i just tried out a simplfier on it and she changed her mind he then looked cute, apparently it was all the stuff around his chin etc it looked horrible just like it does on "dad" she said. I have yet to tell her "dad" and more to the point at 6 how does she get to know whats cute ?

I read a survey somewhere last summer that said women hate that stubbled 'unkempt' look. I guess guys think it is 'macho' or something. You're grandaughter has good taste. LOL

This wasnt what was intended ( believe it or not i was altering a texture and just tried it on this image and it sort of grew from that ) and then i felt left out with not doing a b&w so done one of them as well

Your right they are, but i messed around that long trying to get them right ! ! ! ! it was a case of "is this better or not " i should of walked away for a bit

I was going to put this one, away but decided to try and do a better sketch.
So I used Palms's sketch action (based on Swampy's workflow I believe)(thanks girls).
I then duped that layer and changed the mode to multiply and got a bit more details, I then duped this layer another 10 times, then merged all these sketch layers and changed the mode to overlay and ran bas-relief on it.
Then boosted the saturation off the colours of the base layer a bit and this was the outcome, a little rough but I liked it.
I never got to the sketch bit after all.
