Colorful Laughter

Enjoy painting and playing with this portrait I took of a street performer.

So much fun. So much color.

Have at it.

Re: Colorful Laughter

Great photo, wow colors. Simplified and ran through Photosketcher in watercolor mode. I used the strongest texture and bumped the color a bit.

You said it Mining Art, "WOW colors." I agree. That's why it is so fun to paint.

Great job.

Re: Colorful Laughter

I couldn't resist the colours in this, thanks for sharing it!

A quick smudge in PS, blended in Painter, repainted the eyes in PS and added sandstone texture and paint daub filters at the end in PS.

Lots of fun!

Re: Colorful Laughter

good pic. great colors!

oddly though, instead of enhancing the colors even more, which was my first intention, i ended up subdueing them a bit with this watercolor-like effect.

Re: Colorful Laughter

Steve and Craig, you have both given this thread nice additions. I like both approaches a lot.

Craig, yours is the first colored pencil sketch, which tones down the bright colors somewhat. I wondered if that approach would work with this picture. You have proven that it does so nicely.

Steve, yours is grainy and abstracted almost like you used a palette knife. I like that you left a lot of the details to the imagination. IMHO, that just adds to the fun, free aspect of the whole picture.

Re: Colorful Laughter

Cupcake, PaleoTube, and Photoartomation thanks for the play. I do so love seeing the individual interpretations.

Cupcake, I like the 3-d effect the "frame" gives.
PaleoTube, yours is very painterly. I like you darkened the colors somewhat. It certainly gives a different perspective to this bright picture.
Photoartomation, I like the extra enhancement with yellow. It really makes things POP. What is Fauvism? Whatever it is, it certainly is bright, happy colors.
