Re: Sitting Pretty

Wow Palms; a great capture for play. I really like your result too Peter. Anyway, I made the decision that the white out window had to go; my result might be that good because of it, but oh well. Used Impressionist, FotoSketcher, and a few other things for the result.

Re: Sitting Pretty

Ha ha Steve and Peter (no flowers, or cats, huh )
mind you, you should be grateful that i cannot post facial shots of the grandkids as there are thousands of them

Steve love the brush strokes in this one

Peter great swirling background and emphasis on the dress

and that is a great result Lyle inspired me to perhaps try one on a black background

Re: Sitting Pretty

Couldn't resist giving this a try. Beautiful photo. I wish I could have done a better job getting rid of the blown out area in the upper right. If anyone has any suggestions or tips for me on how to do that, I'd appreciate it.

Great job, everyone!

Palms -- such a lovely photo! No wonder everyone is having such a good time working with it. Lovely work by everyone, and especially by Grandma Palms.

I'll give it a go too.

Re: Sitting Pretty

Peter - you beat me to it!

Palms, I'll bet that "cheeky little devil" is just grandmother talk for loads of personality and the ability to get grandma to do what she wants most of the time. She was an angel in that image, and what she did 5 minutes later doesn't change that!

It depends who you're "talking" too, we all have very different techniques.
Mine involves the use of the Impressionist plug-in and a fine layer of Nik Pastel.

Re: Sitting Pretty

Could you explain that in more detail. Like, is it software you need to buy? If so, what kind, and where?

thanks, john

The Impressionist plug-in is free. You can download from my website at
http://photoart-tutorials.com/index_tutorials.htm.
It's at the bottom of the page.
I hope you work on Windows as it doesn't work on Mac computers

Nik's pastel is one of the many plug-ins of the Nik software company.
You can find more about them on their site at
http://www.niksoftware.com/colorefex..._filters.shtml

Good luck
Sylvia

PS: There are tons of free plug-ins on the Internet. If you're new at digital art, you might want to experiment with free stuff first.
Here's a page that lists a lot of them:
http://thepluginsite.com/resources/freeps.htm
Personally, the ones I use the most are Impressionist, Topaz Clean and once in a while Nik's pastel.
