Here's one I made today afternoon playing with Impressionist.

Very impressive for only a few days of working on this style.
My suggestion would be to consider areas of "brightness" where there appears to be no detail, like in the hair. Brightness attracts the eye. In my opinion it is more appealing and less distracting when there is more detail in these areas.
Keep developing your style using different subjects. That is the only way to improve.
