Creative Portraits: Amy's Flower Child

I was playing around with impressionist when I made a happy little mistake.

The first pic is the original. The second is with impressionist Texture-Floral Blanket. The third is the result after merging on Average, then darkening the contrast in the face and playing with saturation and softening. Interesting...

You know Amy, I've been playing with Impressionist for about 6 months and am just barely scratching the surface. I need to chill for a day and just see what wild and wonderful things are lurking. Here's another rendition by using the blending option. Thanks for sharing!

Cheers
Dave

More fun combining layers using layer masks. The effects applied included the following, which are not listed in the order of their application:
* Before starting, replaced a lot of the black in the background and in her sweater with purple and blue hues. (Used the Replace Color dialog.)
* Photoshop Artistic > Dry Brush. Used to replace some eyes, nose, mouth detail.
* Duplicate of Background + Hide all layer mask + restore a little eye, nose, mouth and hair detail
* Impressionist - Conte: Unsmudged Monochrome (Background = White, Color = Image)
* Impressionist - Charcoal: Fine Scratches on Black (Background = Image, Size=60%). Renders an effect similar to Photoshop Dry Brush, but a more pleasing texture overall.
* Hue/Saturation adjustment layer to boost colors.

Another nice picture, Amy. Thanks.

~Danny~

Wanted something just a little bit different in the expression. Colors achieved manually...used the old tried & tested method of layering (blank multiple layers.) plus impression plug-ins filters.

Edited (in italics)- Have added one more step which i missed out

Image duplicate - close original. Dup backgr layer - Render lens flare - 232 brightness, 35 mm - layer mask low opacity brush, lightly bring back facial features.Another new blank layer with rose pink, again layer mask low opac brush for pink effect. [/i] The next step will determine the type of effect. Render - Lighting effects- i used soft omni, directional, red channel, beyond 60 toward mountainous. Flatten. Image layer adj for more contrast (do not brighten more).

Did a bit of editing on my message

Janet, are you there?
So Sorry. I had forgotten to add an extra step which i've added in the same earlier message. It is an interesting technique if i may say so myself?

Thanks Jaykita. I'm here. Don't laugh but sometimes great cooks leave out an essential ingredient when they "share" recipes. I was wondering.....giggle. Just joking.

Again, great effect.
