JlC ... beautiful... love the art history brushes. Love playing with this image... thank you for posting it!

I started with Lucis art and a number of different layers, but thought the effect was too harsh for the little one, so took it into painter and softened the image with artist chalk and caught all the edges, eyes, eyelashes, nose etc. with pencil....back to ps for final touches. Also took the image more to a sepia tone.

thank you craig, for nice comment. This has been one of my favorite projects, there are so many ways to go with it and you can spend a lot of time with details.

Here's another. Painter for glass distortion, then Photoshop for some cloning and masking.

Re: Creative Portraits: Baby under a Blanket

Decided to make the photo high-key and surrounded it with pixel breakdown.

Created a new photo in greyscale and made it a small image . converted to bitmap and then enlarged it again to same size as original. Pasted the bitmap in as a greyscale into an alpha channel. Used it as a selection mask and added the black fill.

Re: Creative Portraits: Baby under a Blanket

Most of you know I'm a little whacked. I mostly use photos for fodder for very weird pix. I wouldn't call what I do abstracts, as they aren't representative of the original photo. I don't know what I'd call the style, if indeed it is a style at all.

But here is what I have done with this photo. I call it "Beach Play." Feel free to dislike it.

Re: Creative Portraits: Baby under a Blanket

Recently downloaded Inkscape vector graphic editor and played around.

Stars, swirls and the partial circle from Inkscape ....bubbles from Jasc Paint Shop Pro 9 picture tube and applied enamel art effect then opened in Photoshop Elements 2 to add gradient,Virtual Photographer, Find Edges then Texture filters.

Could have done it all in Paint Shop Pro most likely but I had fun switching between programs. Now that I have a good idea of what Elements can do I need to explore Paint Shop more it seems to have much greater width and depth than Elements.

Inkscape looks like it will be great fun.
