| | | Flood Control i'm on here every day and often more than once in the day. i have well over 500 posts now. i was wondering if maybe the posting flood control couldnt be lessened a bit, or at least after a certain number of posts maybe.
i certainly understand the need for flood control, having worked as a moderator on more raucous forums than this one, but the 90 second thing seems a bit much. 60 or even 30 for active users would be much better.

| | | This is currently only available to be set for the entire system. It's not only designed to encourage thoughtful and expansive replies, but it's also a security issue. |

| | | I didn't even know that there was a limit, mind you I never post without doing a preview first.
However, I can see the logic quite clearly. Forums are different to chat rooms.
Chat is written in the sand, forums are set in stone. (slightly exaggerated?)
Most chat isn't worth reading on the very next day, whereas forums retain their value for years - Which is also why the "search" tool is so important. (Craig, I'm not in any way complaining about your posts, OK? - just registering a comment)

| | | thanks Doug. it only happens once in a while, but a bit annoying when the 'you have to wait 90 seconds' message comes up. like i said, i do understand from the safety/security viewpoint. flood 'bombs' are no fun.
and doug, if you ever are interested, there are hacks that allow for user 'levels' to have different settings. vbulletin has quite a few hacks like this. in fact, even if you dont want to modify general user settings, you might this useful for moderators.
