New RetouchPRO Chat Room

If you'll look up on the navbar, you'll see a new link for a chat room. This is a dedicated chat room just for RetouchPRO users.

Right now I have it set up for the most basic functionality until we get used to it.

Play with it, ask questions (and answer them if you can) here.

Re: New RetouchPRO Chat Room

I talked with Palms1 and Franklopes. Nice experience.

I liked that communication.

Chat room option showing ---->> chat room [3]

means 3 member are there, but there is no one except me.

Re: New RetouchPRO Chat Room

I like the chat features. Works very well.

However....

When the chat window is up, the drop down menus down show: they work (meaning they extend down...) but the content is hidden behind the chat window.

Re: New RetouchPRO Chat Room

The chat feature is cool, love it
when you enter or leave there is a sound made
but not when you enter a "chat" but there is a option to add a sound i would recommend this that way if you are doing something else you are alerted someone has answered, but tough if your boss notices

Re: New RetouchPRO Chat Room

the best way to get a chat going on a forum chat thing, is to just go sit in the empty chat room and open another window to the forums or wherever and go about your business. when someone else enters, if you have sounds turned on, you'll get an audio notice that someone else has entered. just go back to the window you have the chat open in and there ya go

we had flora, cathyh, doug nelson, xgt and myself in there a while ago

Re: New RetouchPRO Chat Room

just been in again and found a few things out

like when someone is typing a symbol comes by there name

and you can have a sound made every time someone sends a message as well as entering the room

Re: New RetouchPRO Chat Room

Hmm, the sounds available in the list I looked at were "meow", "slap", and "whip"! I think they were for including in a message... I'm not sure how "slap" and "whip" fit into chats with folks on this forum. (Admittedly, the "meow" fits since so many of us have cats.)

Re: New RetouchPRO Chat Room

Oddly, I used the whip sound 3 times today

I can change/add sounds, but it's quite fiddly and I haven't looked into it yet.

Re: New RetouchPRO Chat Room

i tested the sounds a bit. if you just click on the 'sound' button and pick a sound and hit 'ok', the others in the room dont hear it. at least, that's what i found in one test. so, i'm not sure how you get others to hear these.

Re: New RetouchPRO Chat Room

Just like here in the forums, the emoticons (and the chatroom still calls them emoticons, even though they're sounds) are based on text replacement. So if you see :whip: in your chat dialog, they'll hear it (assuming they have sounds turned on and have their speakers on).

Re: New RetouchPRO Chat Room

If you right click in the chat room you have a list of options appear there and one of them is Audio ( something forgot already) but that lets you add a sound with incoming messages etc. ( no choice in sounds though, that is expecting a bit too much )

Re: New RetouchPRO Chat Room

Audio Notify.

"Private Messages" and "My Username" are good options.
"All Messages" is too noisy.

If you're alone in a room (As I am now), use "Pop-up" notify. You can do something else and when someone shows up you get a message. (Then turn it off)

Re: New RetouchPRO Chat Room

It's a bug (I've filed a fix request). Mouse doesn't work for paste, only keyboard.

Re: New RetouchPRO Chat Room

Just to give you something else to think about

the chat room is great for chatting about anything from the weather to pp techniques to photography tips

but another use it for making contacts within a given field photographers have been there looking for retouchers ? ? ?
and all they got was me

so maybe not a bad place to hang around in, but please if you do hang around at least say "Hi"
