| | | I can't seem to delete a message if I decide not to send it. The option is there, but it is unavailable to me. I am using Explorer 5 on my MAC. Also smilies are supposed to be selected, but I have yet to figure out how to use them in a message. Initially (and being a "new user" I am qualified to say this) the site manipulation is not intuitive. Too much work to figure out how to do things. Personally, I don't mind that a whole lot for I like challenges, but most people like things easy to figure out and quick and if it's not they move on. Non-Mac users may be used to doing things the hard way and so they stay (a Windows slur - sorry). |

| | If you decide not to send a message, simply hit the "back" key on your browser. If you've already hit "Submit", go to the message and hit the "edit" button located directly below it. At the top of your screen will be a "delete" option. You cannot delete the first message in a thread.
Smilies should simply insert placeholder text in your message that gets replaced by the actual graphic once you hit "submit".
Read some of the other threads about Mac navigation problems. I feel badly that there are problems, but they are due to a known Mac IE DHTML problem that will hopefully be patched soon.
And this site is a no-slur zone |

I seem to have the Mac-user IE bug. I deleted the preference I read about elsewhere as possibly fixing the problem, but I still have things that don't work either at all or only partially (like the name length problem with things to select). I can and do read with understanding, and try to follow the directions before saying that something doesn't work for me. This delete the message thing doesn't work for me, as well as smilies and the avatar I selected (or so it seems...both of which are no big deal, but are options that are supposed to be available and aren't for me).
the get more option under smilies refuses to select (as do the smilies).
the vB Code [help] refuses to select.
the Enhanced Mode under vB Code button refuses to select.
The list goes on. This is not s reflection on you, so don't take it that way. I just thought that you might like to be aware of what doesn't work for some of your users, and maybe for Mac users specifically. None of these complaints are of any real consequence. I can post without smilies and avatars and not be deeply hurt by that lack. I WOULD like to access some of the tutorials with shorter names which I can't I guess because of the name length, but I suspect i shall survive not being able to do that as well.
All done whining now... :-b <-THAT smiley always works! |

| | The problem seems to be that the Mac version of IE seems to think the floating menubar is always out, so nothing it covers will be clickable. The smilies probably don't work because of this, since they'd be covered. I suspect your 'delete' clickbox is also in this area.
This is why I suggested maximizing the window, to put physical distance between the menubar and the page. Increasing monitor resolution might also help, for the same reason. And there's a nifty new Netscape version just out
Thank you for your patience and understanding. |

| | Hey - scratch one off the list! The Avatar works now!
Now if I could get a smiley I'd be so very graphical...er, grateful.* |

| | | My own personal belief is that web technology is still basically in beta. Glad you found a solution. |

| here's a possible suggestion for getting to those links: (I'm not sure if it'll work, since I've never used a Mac)
try right clicking the link, then select Properties from the menu, then copy the URL from there and paste it into your browser.
Also, like Doug suggested, you could try out a different browser. here's some links for Mac web browsers: Opera 5.0 for Mac Netscape 7 for Mac
hope that helps,

| | | Hi Blacknight,
Glad to see that I'm not the only Mac user here!!
Thanks for the tip about the screen resolution - I always work at 800X600 because my eyes are old and I can't read the fine print, but it works for the floating menu so I can easly switch resolution when I come to RetouchPro.
Thanks,
Margaret |

| | I haven't decided which is more time consuming yet, but here's another workaround I found for the short menu item name selection. I click on the right edge of the window and move it to the middle of the screen, then drag the lower right corner over making the window wider. I then drag the whole window to the farthest right that I can go by clicking and dragging on the highlight bar. This makes everything selectable without switching resolutions around (which usually messes up the things I have scattered around on the "desktop") and keeps MY old eyes happy as well! |
