Business Area

By Amanda K. Jones on Thursday, August 09, 2001 - 11:58 am:

Hi Doug,

Just wondered if you thought this forum would benefit from a "business area". This would be an area where folks who do retouching for a living could exchange info. Possible topics could include customer relations, contracts, policies, legal issues, etc.

It could also serve to help those who may be considering making retouching more than just a "hobby."

Whatdaya think?

Way ahead of you

Actually, the Work/Jobs section was available on the old board, but no one seemed interested.

I've actually expanded this here the new board.

Feel free to start as many threads as you'd like. I'd love to have a resource for this type of thing here.

Hi Kathleen,

Yes--I'm hoping to move in that direction too--eventually. Right now it's practice, practice, practice. : )

Doug,

Yes! The Work/Jobs forum looks about right--I guess I had forgotten about that since there are not that many posts there. Can't wait to see what you have in store for us. It hasn't taken me long to notice that photo restoration strikes a certain chord with a lot of people. I fixed one photo of my father and it seems like now I'm the most popular gal in town! My sister told her friend, who told her friend, who told her uncle . . . now I have all these people saying, " Can you do this for me??" I guess I don't have to worry about not getting enough practice. It's just hard to draw the line between when do I stop doing favors (freebies) and when do I start charging people? Did you have that problem when you first started?
