No images in Firefox Mac OS 10.5.8, Firefox 3.6.3 I've had a long standing issue on RetouchPro where certain images aren't seen in Firefox but are in Safari. I do see attachments in threads, but I don't see the images that accompany the RetouchPro Live adverts, nor those that accompany Tutorials. To the best of my knowledge this doesn't occur on other sites, but maybe it does and I just don't notice it. Any ideas on why this might be or solutions I might try?

Re: No images in Firefox Try to change your preferences within Firefox. there should be something like "Block Images" or "Block Advert"

Re: No images in Firefox Good idea, but didn't work. I went into preferences and unchecked: Block Pop-ups Block Reported Attack Sites Block Reported Web Forgeries but no joy. I did notice though that under "Applications" these content types have no default application assigned to them. Could any of them be likely culprits?

Re: No images in Firefox it should not be like this. The problem will be somewhere else. What about to reinstall Firefox?

Re: No images in Firefox Doug, on my Mac I'm not really using any dedicated programs like that. And if I were wouldn't it affect Safari to the same extent? Or is this something I'd find in Firefox's preferences? Sorry for the grief, I'm not a techie.

Re: No images in Firefox I understand totally. I used to have a page devoted to tips about this, but it became too much of a chore to keep updated. I'd suggest toggling various plugins off and on until you locate which is causing the problem, then google its name along with "referrer block".

Re: No images in Firefox Problem is, I already turned off all add-ons with no good effect. But I'll google around. Thanks, Doug.

Re: No images in Firefox Flashtones, you can see the attached photos in forum posts, but cannot see images in tutorials? So you cannot see any photos in this tutorial - Masking - Flora ? You say this is a "long-standing issue" - has it ALWAYS been a problem from the first day you used Firefox on this website, or did it start sometime afterwards? I understand that you wouldn't have noticed right off until you had need to look at certain pages, but do you remember it ever working correctly at the beginning? I am on Firefox version 3.6.12 - (but maybe Mac versions have different numbering?) If you have re-installed Firefox to the newest version, it seems to me that there should be no problem as far as Firefox is concerned - I've never had to fiddle with Firefox settings since I started using it several years ago. Are there Firefox add-ons that you are using that you could turn off and see if they are blocking you (you said you checked Firefox settings, but add-ons are separate programs from what I understand, and I've had a few problems with a couple of them). Ask Kraellin (Craig) and (Lyle) lkroll - they both know a lot about computing and may have an answer or a referral. Good luck!

Re: No images in Firefox Thanks for your interest CJ. I just tried again to be sure. Turned off all add-ons and Extension. AutoLoad images on, block pop-ups off, etc. Images (tutorials and RetouchPro Live ads) still don't load. I give up. I'll just continue to switch between Firefox and Safari as needed.

Re: No images in Firefox Why you do not use Chrome? It is small and fast browser. I used Firefox, Mozilla, Opera, Safari but Chrome is the best for me now ... Do you have a developer settings in Firefox? It could be a last try to change your settings there.

Re: No images in Firefox What are developer settings? I don't use Chrome because it's not color managed.

Re: No images in Firefox On this link you can check if your browser is color managed or not: http://www.gballard.net/psd/go_live_...Gprofiles.html Developer settings allows you to see a webpage in different view modes. Usually it offers you "user mode" or "author mode" and more options like "view source code" . . . I do not have Firefox installed now so I am not able to describe exact place to look at. You need to check your menu.

Re: No images in Firefox have you tried looking at the Firefox suppport page, http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/...?s=images&as=s Or you could try typing "about:config" (without the quotes of course), in the address box, to check all your settings - BUT beware it can be dangerous. Peter

Re: No images in Firefox clear your history and remove all cookies. kill the browser and try again. whatever is going on is local to firefox, since safari works, so we know it's not your firewall or something else doing this. if it still doesnt work after clearing history and cookies, then update firefox to the latest version. if that doesnt work, then it's got to be a setting within 'tools-> options', probably under 'privacy' or 'security'. frankly, i dont know what it is, but if doug says it's the referrer that you are blocking, then you need to find and the setting that's doing this. and again, since safari works, it's got to be a setting within firefox. i dont use firefox, nor do i use a mac, but i do have firefox installed and i can see the images in all those places just fine. the images you're not seeing are images which anyone shld be able to see even when not logged in. go look at the gallery. i'll bet you cant see those, either, since they are also viewable to anyone not logged in. the ones you are seeing are the ones the site blocks from folks not logged in, which is odd; i would have thought it would have worked the other way around. at any rate, fiddle with the settings in firefox. it shld be something there. anyone else with a mac having the same problem?

Victory!!! I tried everything in that list to no avail. Then I got to work with the Basic Troubleshooting list. I cleared cache and history, learned about and opened in Safe Mode (holding the alt/option key upon startup) turning of all plug-ins and extensions, etc, to no avail. Finally, in Safe Mode I reset all prefs to defaults and that did it. Going through prefs I still don't see what's different, but who cares, the deed is done. Thanks gang, couldn't have done it without you guys, especially CJ! |
