| | | What's with the "sudden" popularity? As of 4:06PM MST the count of Currently Active Users: 39
There are currently 9 members and 30 guests on the boards. | Most users ever online was 55 on 02-06-2003 at 01:32 PM.
We've gone months without having so many folks online at the same time, and now we're having a lot several days in a row -- this is wonderful, but I am wondering what's drawing folks here this week that we didn't have last week?
Are some of you leaving more RetouchPRO adverts in other forums, or is Doug giving prizes (that I'm missing out on), or has the word just all of a sudden spread about this being a great and friendly site, or ....?
P.S. Yes, I'm knocking on wood so that I don't screw up a good thing for everyone. |

Actually a lot of the guest are google bots. -- T.
| T., I had to look that up -- on Google, of course. Google says that a "Googlebot is Google's web-crawling robot". Is that what you were referring to -- we are being invaded, ummm, er, observed by web-crawling robots? (the word "crawling" always kinda makes my skin "crawl". )
BTW, did you change your avatar again -- from a photo of you to ... is that one of your cats, or a google bot? |

| | | Got my new car So guess it came from Doug, the present that is, I was in class last night and 2 different people mentioned retouchpro as a site to bookmark, even though I got a present, maybe everybody else is just getting the word out.
I just looked, it is the same old car out front. |

Yes I changed my avatar...a couple of times. It was time for a change. I kind of like the Twisted Whiskers' cat (American Greeting card line). He or she with the bulging eyes is a bit goofy and just makes you grin.
And don't worry about the bots...they are good things. Now when people type in "photoart" or such they will probably get several RetouchPro links.

| | | I dunno, T. I've tried using Google to search RetouchPro, and very seldom have I gotten hits. (trying to bypass RetouchPro's search engine's 3 letter word limit ).
For instance searching Google for "photo art" daisies doesn't get one RetouchPro hit. |

| | | BigAl,
I know what you mean. I haven't mastered RetouchPro's search engines yet. Although I have been searching fpr techniques, tips and such on google and had several RetouchPro tutorials turn up.

| | | Spiders and Bots oh my! It is a fine art to work the algorithms of the search engines. lol
Did that for work for a couple of years -- almost like watching the stock market. Spiders, amount of links. page data --- oh that is an art in it's self. I know I have recomended this site to at least 20 people and begged them to come take a look...... sometimes word of mouth will do ya good everytime! I found the site from a SE doing a serach on Photoshop tourotials. The bots or spiders visiting your site show that you are at least being "looked" at for placement on the SE's ..... so I guess that is a good thing. |

It happened again last night. Online Users soared from 375 to 1125. That’s about 800 more than normal. Was RetouchPro mentioned on TV or something?

| | My son attends The Art Institute in San Diego and one of their assignments was to list three sites that had useful Photoshop tutorials that they would bookmark for future use. His choices included retouchpro.com.

| | | Ken, I don't know what might have driven up the numbers so suddenly - but I'd guess it's them BOT's at work again.
Update on the numbers, there are now 182 guests. Flipping through the pages reveals that 90% (or more) are "Yahoo! Slurp Spider", with only a few instances of GoogleBot and MsBot.
Don't know what that means, but the traffic is now coming from Yahoo and not from Google as T had reported earlier in this thread.

| | Thanks Rô
It seems that moderators can get more info. I got “you do not have permission to access this page”
I did notice that none of the 800 joined RetouchPro.
Nanis. It’s nice to hear that they found RetouchPro useful.
RetouchPro is also listed as a great web site here. http://www.planetoftheweb.com/archives/000443.php

Rô | That's a little disheartening to me. Even though I haven't posted much lately, I thought maybe word got around that I was back!

| | ( Using mod superpowers) I heard the bots whispering to each other, and couldn't make it out - something like " dzbak", " dzbak", " dzbak".
Now I got it! " Ed's back"
