Styles of Beauty retouching

I have been looking through glossy magazines and have found that there are two distinct styles of retouching. The one is (as Conrad) puts it "transparent" retouching - where you still see all of the detail in the skin. Then there is a more fake look eg) with Lacome

Have a look at their website to see what I mean:

http://www.lancome-usa.com/_us/_en/index.aspx

and

http://www.lancome.com/index.html

What would this style be called if the more realistic look is called transparent? I am just interested to hear peoples thoughts on the different styles and how often each one is requested.

Thanks

Hi.
The links you posted both direct you to the lancome homepage.
But, I know what you are talking about.
I think there is a difference between natural beauty retouching, and commercial beauty retouching. The same techniques are applied but commercial seems to have more of a porceline finish.

Re: Styles of Beauty retouching

It probably was "retouched" by Testino's airbrushing team...
