Smile Newbie probably asking a common and oft repeated question

Hello all,

Please forgive me for I'm sure this question has been addressed numerus times. If it has, perhaps you could forward me the links to the posts that could help me.

I have been retouching as a hobby for about 6 years using Photoshop. I have been recently asked by a wedding portrait photography to remove age lines and perform other general cosmetic digital surgery to his digital photographs. He wants to charge me on a per picture basis.

So my question would be what would be an average per picture charge for this service. I'm in central NJ, about midway between Philly and NY (if market is a critera).

Is it better to charge by the hour? My research says $75/hr. is common.

Thanks for not getting mad.

Terry

Sure he does, but each photo is different. One pic could take 2 minutes to correct another pic may take two days!

I'd stick to an hourly rate. As long as you can build a reputation of being honest about the time involved, he should have no complaints.
