how's it done now?

Who is doing wedding photography and correcting the pics in a paint program and then handing the customer a disk of the finished product, no prints, no album? I am considering doing this, but don't know how widespread it is.

I do not know about the paint program (most folks I know use PS), but a bunch of folks are doing weddings, portraits, whatever, enhancing (sounds better than correcting) then delivering the images on a disk, or with small jobs by e-mail.

Some sell just disks, some a combination of prints and a disk, some will not sell a disk untill a certain amount of prints have been sold, and on and on.

If one is going to do business this way, then you have to insure that you have made enough money to keep you going based on just the time it takes to do the session and the necessary enhancement work, since there will not be any other sales to that customer.

That help?

Anyone out there accepting photo art for possible purchase? Company names appreciated.

Most companies ask for digital photo submissions, but do not mention photo art.

All info appreciated.

I use a Mac system, so I put the finished pics in iPhoto, then run iDVD and burn a DVD for the customer with his pics.

This way, he gets a really nice preview of his photos, he feels terrific with the quality (because of the size of the TV screen) but he can't print any pic, so I can still have the capability to sell him the printed pics.

I cannot remember where, but I have read of a work around for that. It is better to think that any image that leaves your studio will be able to be copied.

We have found that folks that will steal your images are usually not to worried about the quaility of the image they steal, so putting out low rez, small size images is not a deterent to them. I have seen 8x10 copies, framed and hanging on the wall, with the word "Proof" written across the subjects chest.

Wedding Photos

My daughter got married in October and what that photographer did was to post several hunderd photos online and then viewers could order prints of whatever size they wanted. Off of the web site. Also there was a fairly hefty upfront charge for the photos.

Coffe Talbe Books

Digital "magazine style" coffe table books are popular now.

Do a search on Google and loads will come up. There is a user here who prints them, but I cannot remember who??

I have used a company http://asukabook.com/

The quality is great... prices are reasonable and the turn around is ok.
