| Wording and website business
There is another thread which has turned to the subject of using "I" or "we". This seems to be something that each individual will have to decide for himself/herself. For those of you who think that using "we" adds a dishonest twist, I would suggest using "I" sparingly. I recall visiting a website (can't remember whose), and the wording immediately caught my eye. There were things such as "I" thought this photo needed a boost in contrast, so "I" fixed it, and "I" put in long hours restoring other parts of the photo". *Many* sentences on the site were worded similarly (with "I" being used excessively). I recall that the work was of professional quality, but the "I" stood out (at least to me). It would have been much easier on the eye to have said "The contrast on this photo was lacking, and a boost in contrast made it *much* better". If you have a website business, choose your wording carefully because it can make a first impression on a potential client. If you are trying to sell your house, you want potential buyers to see it at it's best from the street. Consider your wording for a website business as it's "curb appeal". There are only three things a potential client can consider at a website -- the quality of samples, the price, and the wording used. Quality of samples must be high, wording must be chosen very carefully, and the price should not be too high, but it should also not be too low.
