Is there a source for replica cardboard frames?

Hi All,

I recently restored an old damaged photo of my Great Great Grandmother.

Would anyone know if replica cardboard frames similar to various time periods are available? I'm not looking for an exact match, just something similar. I thought it would be nice to have it look closer to the original.

Curious if there's a web page that sells replica vintage photo supplies like this.

Thanks!

Dana

I've yet to find such a source, so what I've tended to do in the meantime is to check out old photographs which come my way for restoration. Some of the old cardboard frames/mounts included with these can be worthy of investigation, with a view to replicating/restoring them in Photoshop.
Another source for this could be car boot/flea market sales. I've picked up some awesome material just simply by browsing through (for example) house clearance material etc.

Hope This of Help

Re: Is there a source for replica cardboard frames

Yeah, ummm... I was googling myself.
I have a fair collection of frames on my Flickr account, but I suspect you want the cardboard? I usually find mine in the junkier antique stores specializing in ephemera. For many of the 19th and early 20th century ones, the picture was just pasted one (usually crookedly). If you aren't too particular about other people's great grandparents' feelings, I'd check ebay for old photos and cabinet cards as well as junk shops or used bookstores to find one the right size and paste her over.
