Photos for Examples

Hey Folks! I am still new in the retouching business and have just started to look for clients. I guess that I will need kind of Portfolio. However, I don't have enough photos for examples to demonstrate my skills in different aspects of retouching. I am just wondering how did you go around that? Are there any sources of free photos which I could use or can someone share photos with me? I will really appreciate any piece of advice!

Re: Photos for Examples

You may want to invest in a good digital camera. Then the photos are yours. Good luck.

It's funny, but I have seen some of these same images in other retoucher's portfolios online, before/after. Apparently they can be used for promo, just not for sale. They are great images to practice on and are hi-rez with good skin texture.

I looked around on this site and I can't find out if we are allowed to use in our ports as before and afters or just on the site as afters? Anyone know?

Re: Photos for Examples

For old photos to restore, try antique stores. Lots of them have boxes of old photos (usually damaged) that one can buy for a low price, then you have the original to show along with your restored example.

For newer photography, find a model (that will work for prints) and if you do not have a camera of your own, an aspiring photographer and commission a shoot to give you some examples for you to work on.

In both cases you would end up with examples that are original and that no one has ever seen before. Sometimes one has to invest a bit of money in oneself in order to show your talents.
