Re: Adobe CS4 price policy-protest

I was shocked just the other day to see the retail price of the new CS4 Extended - $999 new license, 349 or close to that for an upgrade in the US. Wow. Benny has to put his ninja suit on and figure out how to get it for....ahem....free. Or cheap.

Re: Adobe CS4 price policy-protest

Larry,
Can you adjust the poll options. The english is incorrect on the US options, i.e....

US : I will would not buy the CS4 upgrade for the EC Price
should read: US : I would not buy the CS4 upgrade for the EC Price.

US : Yes I would would not buy the CS4 upgrade for the EC Price
should read: US : Yes I would buy the CS4 upgrade for the EC Price.

Thanks ! Maybe that will help.

Re: Adobe CS4 price policy-protest

The dutch prices compared to us prices.

Photoshop CS4 Extended costs $999 in the US (VAT not included).
Photoshop CS4 Extended costs 1249 euros in the EU (VAT not included).

At this moment:
$999 = 677 euro’s
1249 euros = $1843

That’s a price difference of $844 (!)

Re: Adobe CS4 price policy-protest

thanks P-fuzz,

dont think that would work, becuase of my data registered with them.
they wont let me buy in the US store.

And what I realy want is that they put down the price to a reasonable level.
12 month ago there was a thread on the Apple discussions about bad download speed
for European .Mac users. In the beginning the reply from Apple was just that we are so far awy from the server and so on :-))))
when the thread reach 20.000 visitors it become serious. One forum member informed the Macworld Journal and they reported on the subject. many visitors on the thread said that it will never change. Apple is such and such and so on.
And than it happend. Apple started to work hard on the software. for the servers I ont know, if they opend the gates a bit more. Anyhow, finaly the speed became accaptable.
When I saw that Apple is ready to make such an effort, when pointed to aweekness, I decided to buy one year on .Mac.
short after my account was upgradet ith 10 more gig for free !

So sometimes good companies understand when they went to far.

Salute !

Thats the way we like it ! ahan-ahan we like it ;-)

Re: Adobe CS4 price policy-protest

I was just thinking about how this will help our profession. With the rising cost of entry, maybe we will meet less and less people who claim to be "experts" because they've toyed with Photoshop on their IMac at home or school for a few hours.
On the other hand, more and more Lightroom retouchers will be out there. You know, hey, "I can adjust color! And sharpen!"

Re: Adobe CS4 price policy-protest

"Easy, just dragged it to drive, bring it home, drag it to my drive." - yep, thats how we all learned. Honestly I reckon its how the market was generated. Compare now to the issue with MP3's and Peer networks - the truth is that accessibility never does a product harm. Now I pay for my license, increasingly reluctantly because I live in the UK and we are ripped off. I also agree that in the long term it might help the profession to have less people able to access free software - not sure if thats exactly FAIR though
