Hi,
I'm working on what is for now a bare-bones portfolio of retouching work, seen here:
http://jimlafferty.com/hiretouch
While I'm sorting out the web design aspect of it (that's my other job), I'm writing to ask if my work will cut it if looking for a Junior Retoucher position in NYC.
Essentially do I have enough of the right kind of work shown, and is the quality good enough?
I'm aware there are flaws in at least two of the images that will likely count against me:
The first image, the girl with the soccer ball, was taken and processed before my skills reached the level they are at now. As a consequence there are some dodge/burn artifacts, some cloning artifacts. Are they minimally noticeable, or should I just redo the entire image?
The last image, of the man with the Haiti tattoo on his back -- this, too, shows the earmarks of early inexperience. My principle frustration with the shot is that there are areas of underexposure (near his clasped elbow) which show up as jpeg artifacts in Safari (though not in FF or IE7). Should this be something I worry over, as well?
Otherwise, does including the beet image add enough to the portfolio for its inclusion?
Would I be well served by creating a tech product shot?
Thanks!
