"the rest is to be shot during the weeks to come." - and these are nudes! honestly youve described a kind of photography thats the most difficult - and if the guy honestly thinks he can just rattle this type of work out, sets warning signals to me. I reckon you need to be cautious, work out your hourly rate - tell him what the total price will be based on that, and that that your quote represents X hours work.

if you want the work, go for it, but be careful to set some polite parameters and limits, he'll respect it and should understand. And everyhting that zganie has just said too.

Also. Something to keep in mind is that these files will probably be 16 bit, and opened as large as they can be.

It can be quite an eye opener when 1/3 of your quote is spent opening and saving 100-500 mb layered files. You said there's about 100 of them?

Get as much info as you can from the photographer before you quote it. Oh, and say "drama" and "integrity of the original" a lot. They like that.

Cheers and good luck to you.

Re: how much would you ask for this job?

Quote them 2 hours per image (which you wanted to do) at the price that you think is resonable. Keep in mind simple stuff like opening files/e-mailing/uploading/downloading, quote hours for that (roughly) and then make an estimate with those numbers, specifying that the number you're quoting is for 2 hours of retouching, etc, etc.

Then put a clause in your estimate to say that any work more than those 2 hours per pic, will be charged at an hourly rate of (insert your rate here).

If they sign that off and they start to ping pong the images back to you, at least you can charge them for it.
